Today I decided to finish off part of Twivo that should have been done a long time ago, the Password Reset stuff.

It only took about 10-20mins to get done, it’s a simple and secure system, the only problem would be if someone has @twivo.com emails blacklisted..

The Twivo Forum has been opened to the public after only being in development for 2-3 days, yup I coded it fast didn’t I.

I was able to create the forum fast because I use the best coding tips, and the best tip would be: Start simple, which is what I did, I created what was needed first and will be expanding on that in the next few days.

The code behind the forum is simple but powerful, the forum permissions inherit from “defaults” for each user group unless there are specific permissions for the forums. Which saves space in the database.

The main forum file is under 100 lines of code, which displays the forum index, topic list, view topic, new topic and quick reply. But how with so little code? I did what I always do, I create a class file that contains all the functions needed, such as Forum::getforums(), Forum::createtopic(), you get the idea. This file has over 600 lines of code and is only loaded when needed.

In the next few days I will be adding more features to the forum such as quoting other users, an WYSIWYG editor type thing for the BBCode features and some other things that every forum needs.

Just to some possible questions that might be asked, I’m unsure if I will be releasing the forum technology to the public at the moment, unless of course your willing to pay for it.

Twivo is coming along great, I stopped adding services and started on an RSS feed for the main timeline while the current services were being tested.

So far the current services are holding up great and working well as far as I can tell, so starting tomorrow if I have time, I will be adding more services such as Raptr and other useful ones.

The RSS feeds are only enabled for site admins at the moment but once they have been tested they will be enabled for all users.

I also have to get a proper development site for Twivo setup so all updates and development related posts can be posted there.

Another thing I have been thinking about is letting current Twivo members invite their friends, but I need to discuss this with the other admins first.

I’ve never really cared about Adobe AIR, and then I used an app that was made with Adobe AIR and the interface was fraking ugly which made me hate AIR even more.

But I just spent the whole night making my own Adobe AIR app and realized the app I used purposely made their interface that ugly, so now I actually like Adobe AIR and will probably soon be making more apps with it.

The app I made is for now a simple Twitter client for Twivo.com, but soon I will be adding to it to display your timeline and replies.

I asked myself why I keep posting on multiple blogs. I don’t post the same on all my blogs. This WordPress.com blog is more of a random post thing more than anything and my main blog on my site is more of a personal blog, and my Tumblr is more of a thing where I post completely random things randomly, or just some weird thing.

I suppose that’s why I made Twivo, to finally have it all in one place, to be honest making Twivo has actually got me blogging or “micro blogging” a lot more than usual.
